Embedded capacity on networking and academic activities

By improving researcher capacity and consolidating existing research institutions dedicated to democratisation in Indonesia, PWD seeks to strengthen the capacity of pro-democracy non-governmental organizations through empirical research. In the long term, this study also supports the advocacy work of all participating institutions.

In an effort to redirect the agenda for deepening democracy in Indonesia, this project departs from previous research activities by developing a new initiative for participating institutions and other future partners. The project is dedicated to strengthening researcher and institutional capacity to advocate for research findings, now and in the future. It also aims to improve the quality of research and consolidate the existing network of research institutions. The project supports the advocacy work of participating institutions by welcoming political advocates from non-governmental organisations and politically engaged researchers to pursue higher education and receive masters or doctoral degrees. Participants will be granted scholarships and research grants to pursue their education and conduct requisite research projects. Degree-granting programs will be carried out within the PWD’s thematic research framework.
